Jak donosi Gazeta Prawna, projekt ten wzmacnia pozycję, prawną konsumentów w relacji z towarzystwami ubezpieczeniowymi. Obowiązujące przepisy stawiają w lepszej pozycji ubezpieczycieli.
Proponowane zmiany zakładają m.in. obowiązek informowania klienta o terminie opłaty raty składki, co byłoby szczególnie niekorzystne dla dużych firm ubezpieczeniowych, które będą miały największy problem z dyscyplinowaniem nierzetelnych płatników.
Autor artykułu nadmienia też, że w wyniku zmian, klientom łatwiej też będzie odzyskać pieniądze za niewykorzystany okres ubezpieczenia. Obecnie jeśli umowa jest rozwiązywana na przykład po całkowitym rozbiciu lub kradzieży auta, towarzystwa nie oddają ani grosza. A mogą to być spore kwoty, szczególnie jeśli szkoda wydarzyła się w początkowym okresie ubezpieczenia.
